I Knew I Wanted To Be A Librarian .....

I knew I wanted to be a librarian the first time I walked into my elementary school library.   I loved the books, the peace and quiet, and most of all the organization of the materials.  Aquarians thrive on organization.  After many years of teaching elementary and middle school students (I wanted to be a teacher too), I went back to school myself, and earned a master's degree in instructional technology (school librarianship).  I worked as a school librarian for two years.  This new degree plus my library job experience paved the way for a new position as a media librarian in Lane Library at Armstrong Atlantic State University.  In 2008, a very unique opportunity presented itself through the School of Information at the University of North Texas.  In the absence of an accredited library school program in Georgia, UNT paired with the Robert W. Woodruff Libraries at Emory and Atlanta University Center and established a two-year library school cohort.   I applied and was accepted into the program.  I completed my master's degree in library and information science in December, 2010.  Talk about being in the right place at the right time.  It was a wonderful journey.
